Westside Building Supply, founded in 1959, is one of the largest independent, family-owned building material retailers in the Pacific Northwest. We serve contractors and do-it yourselfers through our large lumberyard facility and vibrant retail store. Westside specializes in quality building products and exceptional service.

Job Summary:
Sales associates are expected to maintain a positive representation of Westside Building Supply by providing an outstanding customer service experience consistent with company values. The main task of a sales associate is to assist customers in finding and purchasing products and maintain a clean and efficient sales floor. They should be willing to continually learn and expand their knowledge of Westside’s products and services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers, both in person and on the phone, answering their questions, helping them find merchandise, and taking payment.
- Use Westside’s point of sale software to complete purchases via accounts, credit cards, checks and cash.
- Create an inviting environment for customers by maintaining a clean and orderly sales floor, including housekeeping tasks.
- Notify customers of upcoming promotions and new products.
- Assist with loading products into customer’s vehicles as needed.
- Face and front product throughout the store.
- Adhere to all store policies and safety standards.
- Use paint matching software and paint machine to mix paint for customers.
- Cut keys for customers.
- Help store staff with other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- Outstanding customer service skills and a professional attitude.
- A working knowledge of the products contained in the store with a willingness to continue to learn.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Able to work a consistent, but rotating schedule that will include some Saturdays.
- Outgoing personality focused on excellent customer service and problem-solving.
- High level of social maturity including respect, integrity, and honesty.
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

WORK HOURS: Typical 40-hour week may include weekday hours between 7:00am – 4:00pm or 8:00am – 5:00pm and rotating Saturdays from 8:00am – 4:00pm.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly moves throughout the store facility and lumber yard working with customers. May be required to lift and/or move 25-50 pounds occasionally. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time. Employee should be able to reach and bend with little difficulty, and should be comfortable on step stools and small step ladders.
Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
